Silly Sayings and Belly Aches

Here's what's been going on with us the past few weeks. Emmy's been staying busy. She went to a friend's second birthday party two weeks ago. It was at a really fun park. Emmy had tons of fun walking around the wooded area with Brenner and Daddy.

We also had some fun one afternoon with s'mores And I would say, Emmy had a little more fun!

We've had quite the gathering of ducks at our place. Whenever Wade and I spot them, we'll rush Emmy to the door so she can catch a glimpse.

She still says the silliest things: In the morning she'll get me out of bed by saying, "Mon! Follow me!" Which means, come on, follow me! And she'll say, "Don't say that to me" She usually says that when we tell her not to do something. And she says, "Don't like that," usually when we're introducing a new food to her. And if I make a face or say something silly she'll say, "Mommy's funny!" She's already very excited about Halloween. She's tried her costume on and everything. She can tell you what she's going to be and what Brenner's going to be. We'll keep it a surprise until I get a picture of them together all dressed up...

Thanks for the cute hat Grandma Z!

And these are Emberlyn's "girls." She wakes up in the morning and says, "Girls, where aaaarrrrre you???"

Poor Brenner's been having a rough couple of weeks. He's been getting very fussy at night, and sometimes during his feedings. And he's been spitting up a lot before a feeding, during a feeding, an hour after a feeding, all of the time. So I took him into the doctor and it looks like our little man has acid reflux. I've been trying to pinpoint what I've been eating that could be causing this little guy to have so much pain and discomfort. And it seems a big culprit is dairy. So, I'm steering away from milk and cheese. The weird thing is that all of his discomfort really hits him at night. It breaks my heart to see how uncomfortable he gets. We have a prescription that we've been trying out. I can't tell if it's been helping or not. We'll just have to give it some time. I've noticed that during the day, he likes to sleep on his belly. So, I'll prop him on his boppy pillow and lay him on his front side. Hopefully, we'll get this all figured out soon so we can both get a good night's sleep. He goes into the doctor in a few more weeks for his 2 month check-up. I can't wait to see how big my chunky monkey is! Everyone comments on how big he is and how chubby his cheeks are. So, even though he may be spitting up a lot, and having rough feedings, he's certainly packing it in! He must be getting ready for his highschool football days...

Other than that, he's been much more alert during the day, which has been so much fun. Emberlyn has conversations with him, and we'll sing to him and read him books. He's started cooing, which is my favorite. Not very often, but every now and then I'll hear him cooing on my bed, so I'll rush over to him and talk back and forth with him. But as soon as I start talking back to him, he usually ends the conversation. I must not have anything interesting to say. He finally enjoys bath time. His umbulical cord decided to finally fall off last week, so he's having fun getting his whole body wet. I'm already washing up his 3-6 month clothing. He's growing up so fast! He'll be 7 whole weeks this Friday.

And that's been our life for the last several weeks: restless, busy, and oh so enjoyable! ...Brenner would have to agree!

Brenner's Newborn Photos

One of my really good friends, Lindsay, came over last week to take some pictures of little Brenner. And, WOW, did they turn out cute! You'd never know that he put up a little fight during the shoot. He had hunger pains about half-way in, so we did a quick feeding and he of course didn't want to be given any direction. Lindsay would try to lay him one way, and he'd force another... But we've got some great shots to choose from! Thanks Lindsay for all your patience while working with him and posing him just right! She did a fabulous job, and I cannot wait to see how the rest turned out. Here's a link to her photography blog to check them out: http://ltcphotos.blogspot.com/

Emberlyn Turns TWO!

Our Emberlyn Jade is TWO! Her birthday was on Saturday, and it was extra exciting because my mom was in town to celebrate! We had a party for her with all of her friends. And it was so much fun. We got her cake from Sugar Plum bakery and it turned out so cute. She blew bubbles outside, ran around with her friends, smashed her hands into her cake, and opened lots of fun presents! I can't believe we celebrated yet another year with our princess. She is getting so big, so fast. We love you so much Emberlyn! We can't wait to see what this next year will bring...

Look at you! You just turned TWO!!!

She was keeping really neat and using her fork and asking for a napkin. But then she really got into it...

Here she is pushing her new stroller. She finds the smallest dolls and animals to put in here. She doesn't like the full-size babies in there for some reason. I think it's because the smaller ones are easier to get in and out. Smart girl!
